Our SENSE CDT PhD student Rebecca Wilks has recently responded to the UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (UKSEDS) call for speakers for the Earth Observation panel at the National Student Space Conference 2026 (King’s College London). The UKSEDS National Student Space Conference, is the premier event for students interested in space, uniting them with academics and professionals from across the country to network, share knowledge, and discuss the challenges facing the sector.1
With SENSE funding, I moderated an Earth Observation Panel at the UKSEDS (UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) National Student Space Conference 2026 in London. The conference had over 300 attendees with a wide range of students from undergraduate to PhD level in technical disciplines from engineering to policy and medicine, all with an interest in space and keen to pursue a career in this area. Helping create a panel discussion and moderating this talk, enabled us to publicise earth observation as a career path to this highly motivated group of students, who may not have previously encountered this option.
